“Yoko split up the Beatles.” Maybe… but ever since I saw her “Yes Yoko Ono” retrospective at the Japan Society in NYC cerca 2001, I have appreciated Yoko Ono as a serious artist and not just a catalyst for Wings. And by serious I mean thought-provoking, original, interesting, conceptual, crazy, and very unique. Seriously. You have to view her artwork with an open mind and a large grain of salt. And unlike the mass-market acceptance of the Beatles, Yoko still isn’t quite ready for the mainstream, as evident in this recent clip from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. The Plastic Ono Band (with son Sean Lennon on guitar) performs “Waiting for the D Train” from her latest album. It’s bizarre, but honestly she’s come a long way from her 1960’s buzzing like a fly for 3 solid minutes. Now it’s 2000’s fly-speak interspersed with hooky guitars. Joy.

I’m not the most fashionable guy, but I enjoy an occasional episode of Project Runway. BA Fashion Week happens twice a year, once per season. (Are there four seasons of fashion or just two?) Anyway, the coming season here is Spring and BAFweek is the place to see all the new clothes, and the beautiful people looking at all the new clothes. Most of the experience of BAFweek is waiting in long lines which meander around advertising kiosks, waiting to get into the runway shows. The one runway show I saw was by Cora Groppo, a designer from Buenos Aires, who presented her vision of spring with a lot of beige fabric and skinny models with wet hair. The part of the show that I enjoyed most was the music that accompanied the clothes, a live violinist and a drummer playing along with some ambient techno. It was a good time.

I’ve been working on a new website for Express Communications, a printing and design company in Provincetown, MA. I’m posting a screenshot of the homepage. It’s nothing too fancy, just a basic site for now. Their new catch-phrase is “Guerilla Marketing… Cape Cod Style!”… so the website might get even fancier. I’m thinking of an image of lighthouse with some graffiti tags on it. So check out the full site here.
